Our Fellowship Program is designed to bring top talent from the most innovative firms, universities and organizations worldwide to get hands-on experience working with local entrepreneurs who lack access to high-quality business services and with Alterna's leadership to maximize our impact and sustainability.<br></span><br>Over the course of 6-10 months, Business Cultivation Fellows provide support to social entrepreneurs in various phases of businesses development, accompanying them and guiding them through the riskiest phases of launching a business. Utilizing a methodology built from five years of launching our own social businesses and working directly with entrepreneurs in the community, our Fellows have successfully helped launch and scale over 500 social businesses and have worked with almost 600 entrepreneurs in Guatemala.<br><span><br>As Central America’s first Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Alterna aims to catalyze social entrepreneurship from the ground up, and we envision a world in which the opportunity to ignite positive change exists in every context. Our talent is the key to achieving our mission, and we’re currently recruiting fellows on an ongoing basis to take on new projects in different phases of development.<br></span><b><br>JOB DESCRIPTION<br></b><span><br>Cultivation Fellows support Alterna’s team in the cultivation process with entrepreneurs and businesses of various sectors and development stages, supporting them in business model development, market analysis, strategic and financial planning, social impact maximization plans, and beyond. Our Fellows play a hands-on role in converting potential entrepreneurs into change makers and creating an ecosystem of social entrepreneurship from the ground up in Guatemala. </span> Your scope of work will be tailored to fit your profile, after a deep assessment of your experience, skills and interest during the recruiting process. Your specific responsibilities can include:<br> <span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Facilitate business training workshops; including coordinating sessions, being a lead facilitator, managing logistics, following up with entrepreneurs and leading client relationship work<br></span><span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Support entrepreneurs as they develop their business models and action plans, helping them assess and achieve their strategic goals for development<br></span><span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Develop, build out and analyze social impact strategies for local entrepreneurs aiming to make a positive impact in their community<br></span><span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Design expansion plans for advanced stage entrepreneurs, conducting market research, risk analyses and cost-benefit analyses with local experts and entrepreneurs<br></span><span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Evaluate and develop Alterna's internal strategy and consulting methodology, helping to adjust and improve our cultivation program based on field experience<br></span><span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Work directly with Alterna’s senior team to implement Cultivation program development, including identifying, cultivating and retaining relationships and partnerships that lead to pipelines of qualified entrepreneurs<br></span><span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Collect and produce content for Monitoring and Evaluation reports, measure and evaluate the social impact of clients' businesses<br></span><span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Conduct research about innovative approaches, ideas and best practices in the areas of Impact Investing and Social Entrepreneurship<br></span><span>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Assist in the program development to identify, attract and retain new and ongoing relationships and partnerships to source Alterna with highly qualified mentors, fellows, and interns</span>

This fellow will contribute directly to the process of identifying new pipelines of fellows through strategic partnerships and promotion tactics, managing the full recruiting process, maximizing the quality of the Fellows' experience during their time at Alterna, and implementing a post-fellowship cultivation strategy that engages potential, current and previous fellows. Through developing and guiding the organization’s recruitment and retention action plan, this person will form a crucial part of Alterna’s operations team and growth strategy.
